Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu announced that significant progress has been made in a short period at Turkey’s first high-speed train factory, which is being built on a 15,000‑square‑meter area in Sakarya. Uraloğlu stated that the project has reached 55% completion in just 4.5 months.

Evaluating the project carried out under TÜRASAŞ, Uraloğlu emphasized that the work at the high-speed train factory located within the Sakarya Regional Directorate is proceeding as planned.

In his statement, Minister Uraloğlu said:

“Today, under the leadership of TÜRASAŞ—one of Turkey’s and the Middle East’s largest rail systems manufacturers—we are a country that produces its own high-speed trains. Furthermore, we are now a Turkey that builds the factories for these trains, develops their technology, and manages production processes with its own engineering. We are no longer just laying the tracks; we are designing, constructing, producing, and testing the high-speed train sets and the facilities where they will be built.”

The Project Is 55% Completed

Providing details about the current status, Uraloğlu noted that construction progress has reached 55% on the 18,000‑square‑meter site and stated their goal is to put the facility into service within this year.

He added that once operational, the factory will produce Turkey’s first domestically manufactured high-speed train capable of reaching 225 km/h, along with other national rail system vehicles:

“The production, assembly, and testing processes of our high-speed train sets will be carried out under one roof. This will significantly contribute to Turkey’s domestic and national train production capacity.”

A Sustainable Facility Powered by Solar Energy

Uraloğlu highlighted that the factory was designed with sustainability in mind:

“With the solar energy system to be installed, we will establish a sustainable production model and reduce our carbon footprint. While increasing localization in rail systems, we will also adopt an environmentally friendly production approach.”

The High-Speed Train Factory Will Be Commissioned This Year

Emphasizing that the project is progressing according to schedule, Uraloğlu stated that the high-speed train factory will be commissioned within the year. Once operational, the factory will enable Turkey to domestically produce the high-speed train sets it requires.
