Amazon Web Services (AWS) has launched a new artificial intelligence solution, Amazon Connect Decisions, aimed at accelerating companies’ planning and decision-making processes. The platform is built on a system of AI agents designed to optimize supply chain operations.

AWS Supply Chain Vice President Ozgur Dogan stated that the solution consolidates different supply chain functions under a single structure, integrating more than 25 tools within the system. Through this setup, AI agents support operational decision-making by performing analyses on behalf of the user.

Decision Processes Reduced to Hours

According to Dogan, the platform’s most significant contribution is its ability to dramatically shorten traditionally lengthy decision-making processes.

“The system not only analyzes data but also continuously improves itself by learning from the actions taken,” said Dogan, emphasizing that these learnings are distributed across the entire organization.

While the platform is based on Amazon’s experience in managing over 400 million SKUs, it aims to enable companies to make data-driven decisions in hours rather than days.

Unified Data, Analysis, and Alert Management

Connect Decisions aggregates data from multiple systems into a centralized hub, providing supply chain teams with end-to-end visibility. The platform integrates with ERP systems and can analyze the root causes of operational issues while offering potential solutions.

Additionally, the platform can:

  • analyze thousands of operational alerts
  • prioritize tasks
  • identify unnecessary inventory

As Dogan noted, in certain cases the system can detect “invisible patterns,” allowing companies to uncover inefficiencies they may not have previously recognized.

Chat-Based and Dynamic Interface

One of the platform’s standout features is its flexible user experience. The system operates with both visual dashboards and a chat-based interface.

Users can directly ask questions about the data and receive immediate insights. According to Dogan:

“This is not a static dashboard; it is a fully dynamic system shaped by how each company chooses to use it.”

Built on Amazon’s SCOT Infrastructure

At the core of the platform lies SCOT (Supply Chain Optimization Technology), which Amazon uses in its own operations. This system supports critical decisions such as:

  • which products to procure
  • where inventory should be positioned
  • how distribution processes should be managed

By analyzing historical data, seasonal variations, and promotional campaigns, the system improves the accuracy of demand forecasts.

A New Generation of Supply Chain Management

According to AWS, Connect Decisions represents the next evolution of the AWS Supply Chain platform introduced in 2022. Rather than requiring companies to change their existing workflows, the system integrates seamlessly into current structures to enhance decision-making speed.
